Executive Elections

It’s time to pick next year’s executive team for UMS!   The application form is available here, and is due on Monday, March 21st at 5:00 P.M.  If you are interested in applying, please fill out the form and email it with your resume to info@utscmusic.com.

Executive positions include:

President

  • Responsible for overseeing general club operations
  • Official spokesperson for the club
  • Lead organizer for the club’s larger initiatives (e.g. creation of new ensembles)
  • Maintains communication with the ensemble leaders
  • Ensures that the club is functioning in a manner consistent with the club’s values and constitution
  • Direction, development and promotion of the overall objectives and goals of the club
  • Design posters, facebook banners, tv banners, and brochures for UMS events and initiatives

Vice President

  • Maintain documentation of the club’s operations throughout the year
  • Oversees club and ensemble recruitment
  • Management of club email
  • Coordinates merchandise sales (both semesters)

Secretary

  • Initiates communication via email with new club members
  • Records minutes during executive and general meetings
  • Assists Vice President to maintain documentation of the club’s operations throughout the year
  • Assists Vice President to strategize new ways to recruit members for UMS, and reach all the musicians on campus

Treasurer

  • Completes funding applications for events and initiatives
  • Maintains record of financial transactions
  • Signing officer on the UMS bank account
  • Assists in organization of our major fundraising projects (merchandise sales and singing telegrams)

Marketing Lead

  • Strategizes new ways to recruit members for UMS, and reach all the musicians on campus
  • Networks with other club leaders and community groups to look for opportunities for collaboration
  • Contacts advertising services (on- and off-campus) to promote UMS initiatives
  • Maintains the club’s online presence by regularly updating our facebook and twitter pages, and the UMS website

Events Coordinator (x4)

  • Organizes on‐campus events that provide members with opportunities for performance
  • Organizes off-campus performance trips to see professional musicians (TSO, musicals, etc.)
  • Organizes social events for our members (movie nights, end-of-term socials)

Merchandise

Want to show your love for music? UTSC Music Merchandise is now being sold! Come visit us during our table hours to drop off your completed form and money. Forms can be found on our website at here or picked up at table hours. Please enclose the exact amount within an envelope labelled “Merch” as we cannot guarantee that we will have change. Sales will be happening until Friday, March 11th. Our table hours for this week can be found under ‘Table Hours‘.

UMS Holiday Party

Holiday Party Poster

Come celebrate the holidays with us at our Holiday Party! We’ll have karaoke, Just Dance, and lots of food! We’ll also have an Ugly Sweater Competition so don’t forget to wear your ugliest holiday sweater! Tickets are $2 for non-members and $1 for members, with sign-up available at the door. Visit our table in the student centre to purchase tickets or purchase them at the door!

Monday, November 30: 10 AM – 12 PM
Tuesday, December 1: 3 PM – 5 PM
Wednesday, December 2: 12 PM – 2 PM

  • Initiates communication via email with new club members
  • Strategizes new ways to recruit members for UMS and reach all the musicians on campus
  • Assists Communications Lead to maintain documentation of the club’s operations throughout the year
  • Records minutes

 

Marketing Assistant

  • Works with Marketing Lead to maintain Twitter and Facebook feeds and our website
  • Creates a strong online presence for UMS, ensuring our members are informed of our upcoming events and feel involved in club activities
  • HTML knowledge not required, but is considered an asset
  • Design posters, Facebook banners, and brochures for UMS events and initiatives
  • Skilled in Adobe Photoshop

UMS Holiday Party!

You are invited to the annual UMS Holiday Party happening on the last day of classes, Monday December 1, in the TV Lounge of the Student Centre! Our annual holiday party will feature karaoke, FREE FOOD, and our famous Ugly Christmas/Holiday Sweater Contest! So come join us with your itchiest and most festive sweaters and you might just win some amazing prizes! Admission is FREE! Hope to see you there!

Wicked Trip!

Hey everyone!

The UTSC Music Society is planning a trip to go see Wicked on Tuesday, October 14 at 7:30pm at the Ed Mirvish Theater.  Tickets are on sale right now! They are $46 and will be sold during our office hours in the Student Center. Update weekly office hours can be found on the Office Hours page. Tickets will be sold on a first come-first serve basis so be sure to drop by and pick up your ticket as soon as possible. To purchase a ticket, a deposit of $20 must be made when signing up during our office hours. The remainder to be paid when picking up the tickets. Tickets are non-refundable.
